CATCH UP, KETCHUP

I'm sure many of you remember a few years ago when Huy Fong Foods, the makers of the wonderfully-spicy condiment Sriracha Sauce, almost packed up and left Southern California when residents near their bottling factory blamed the factory's spicy pepper smells for their ailments.  There was a nationwide panic that there might be a Sriracha shortage and it started flying off shelves like crazy. I'm sure our household alone bought a case. I mean, who wants to be left with bland pho and naked nachos?  Then, a Texas Representative extended a warm welcome into the Lone Star State should Sriracha decide to move.

It all came out in the wash eventually and Sriracha stayed in Cali, but this debacle definitely highlighted just how much Americans love this spicy Vietnamese condiment.  In honor of rooster sauce, we've pulled together some of our favorite Sriracha-inspired recipes, cocktails, baby gear, home goods, and local Austin restaurant dishes.

If you're in the mood for a snack at home, we have a killer recipe for Sriracha Popcorn.  Need a baby gift? How about an organic Sriracha bodysuit or sippy cup?  If you're looking for interesting eats in Austin, check out the Kimchi Arancini Balls with Sriracha Aioli at The Peached Tortilla and if you're entertaining at home, try a Sriracha bloody mary.
